Wow! Can't believe this weatherl It was over 60 degrees today. Most of our snow/ice is melting which leaves a lovely backyard of mud and muddy feet and underbellies on the cardigans. So, with Spring around the corner, what a great time to be thinking about swingsets for the grandkids.

CSN Stores has over 200 online stores where you can find anything you need from fitness equipment, lighting, cookware, and yes, even swingsets. I'm off to check out their website. Will let you know what I find.

Happy 6th Barkday Cooper

My boy turned six today. Wow! Time flies.

We celebrated with a song and a dance. Cooper and I did a little jig and Callie looked at us like WTF? LOL. I'll have her dancing in no time. (Maybe, ha!) Then I sang Happy Barkday to Cooper, happy barkday to RRRROOOOOOOOO! Cooper got two boxes of treats (which he will share with Callie.) I also promised him some Nylabones as soon as I get to a store that sells them. All in all, a good barkday for him.

All this excitement makes for a tired boy.

Welcome To Our Family

Cooper and I would like to introduce a new member to our family - "Callie" formerly Tally. She came back home with me Sunday from the dog show in Kankakee thanks to Laura C. This picture was taken a few hours after I got home with her. She is 3 years old and has been shown and has 5 points, so I'll be taking her to some dogs shows next year. Cooper is enjoying his new sister. She's the sweetest thing and is settling in great.

Cardi Claus Anticipation

Cooper and I received our name for the Cardi Claus ornament exchange that Mrs. Claus over at Simple Things put together again this year.

We're excited with who we have and can't wait to put our package together and mail it out. We had so much fun giving and receiving last year. Who do we have this year???? Hmmmm, we can't tell, but just maybe it might be Y O U.

We've Been Busy

Wow. It's been awhile since I posted.

Got Cooper's AKC certificate in the mail the other day and his photo in the mail yesterday, so that was a reminder that I haven't posted on here that he got his CD last month.

Here are the photos of our three qualifying legs.

Two legs and just need one more leg, but no local trials for awhile. There was an outdoor trial in April but I wanted to wait for an indoor trial, and then I totally forgot to mail my entry for the trial in May....Had something to do with being busy with a new grandson born on April 30th.

This was a goal that I had for 2010, so I'm very happy. We worked hard and we did it.

So our next project is working on our therapy dog certification. We did our first observation in early July, but I'm so busy at work at the moment it will probably be mid-August before we can do our second observation. We have to have three observations total.

Here's a few pictures from our first observation.

The last time I went to a nursing home with him was in May, and we went with our friend Elaine and her dalmation, and Cooper wanted to play with Tripper. I had trouble getting him to focus. So I wasn't sure where we headed this time since another dog and handler were along for their observation as well, but I didn't let Cooper get to know the other dog until after the therapy visit.

When we went in May, I had posted about it on my Facebook page, and a gal in my kennel club emailed me and said she was a therapy dog evaluator if I wanted to make him a certified therapy dog (TDI). So in order to do that she has to go with us three times and observe us.

I've heard people talk about how rewarding it is doing therapy dog work, but you just can't imagine until you do it yourself. I was very touched and pleasantly surprised how Cooper reacted to the people in this assisted living home on this day. You can tell in the pictures that he really enjoyed it. I was afraid he would get bored, but he wasn't, he loved the attention.

The little, old lady in these pictures LOVED him. When they move to this assisted living home, they cannot have dogs. She was a true dog lover. There were 3 family pictures in her room with dogs in them. One from when she was a little girl with her dog, one of her and her husband and their dog, and then a painting of her husband and their dog. She was so happy that we can by her room, and I can't wait til we can go back. There were a couple of other ladies that just loved him as well, and this home is only 5 minutes from my house.

Yes, I'm telling my age. It's hard to believe that I'm half a century old.

My daughter wanted to throw me a party, but I nixed that idea. I just wanted to go to a certain restaurant about an hour and a half away. Then my daughter was going to get a bus and have a bunch of people go, so I nixed that idea, too. Since my birthday falls on a holiday, it's hard to plan things. I'm off that week, so MDH and I are going to go to the restaurant one day for lunch and then afterwards maybe get a hotel room for the night because I really want to go swimming and hang out in a hot tub for a while. I'm just wanting to keep it simple and stress free.

So, maybe for my birthday Cooper and I can get that 3rd leg on Saturday.

Nothing Much Going On These Days

Hey Blog World,

Nothing much going on at this time. Had the 3 youngest grandkids Saturday morning til Sunday morning. They are such good boys and I enjoyed spending time with them.

It's so hot here. I'm thankful for A/C. My work is busy so that's a good thing. Hubby is unemployed, but I know he'll find something out there, it will just take time.

Cooper is doing fine. We have an obedience trial on Saturday. I'm hoping we Q because that would be his last leg for his novice title. Cross your paws out there. If we don't Q, we probably won't enter any trials for a long time. Cutting back on spending money while MDH isn't working. We will be doing our 3 nursing home observations for our TDI soon. I just wanted to wait until after the trial. I like to focus on one thing at a time.

The grand-dog, Lexi (Boston Terror) went to live with my son after being with us for over two years. I do miss her, but I don't miss her digging up the backyard.

Hubby's Home and What a Good Day

Hubby came home today. He's doing so much better. I got to the hospital this morning at 8:30 a.m. and he was off the IV and the morphine and enjoying jello for breakfast. By lunch, he was on a bland diet, eating what looked like a broiled chicken breast on a bun. The doctor came in a little after 2:00 and gave him the good news that he could go home and by 4:00, we were home taking a nap.

They don't know what caused the pancreatitis, but all his blood work came back good...no cancer, no diabetes, etc. I am so relieved and Thank God for this news. I can't begin to tell you all the thoughts and worries that ran though my mind the last couple of days.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS!

So, besides that good news, I already posted that I won Janet's blog giveaway. Since this was the second time I lucked out and won one of her blog giveaways, I stopped on the way to the hospital and bought a Power Ball ticket. Now, I'm not holding my breath on winning, but wouldn't it be nice. :-)

I Won!!! and Thoughts and Prayers Needed

I won Janet's blog giveaway. WOO HOO. I remembered to enter with an hour to spare. I got home from visiting my husband around 8:45 p.m. last night. Had to feed dogs (Cooper and our guest, Olive), feed myself, and then give the dogs some attention. Poor things!! So after they got some mommy time, I gave them a chewie and got on the internet to catch up with the world. Thankfully, when I got on blogger, I saw Holly's blog post about the give-away and that reminded me. I thought I was too late, but when I went to Janet's blog, I saw I still had an hour to enter. So, what to buy with the gift certificate????? Something for me or something for Cooper?????? I rarely buy something for myself, and I can't think of anything that I need. Cooper needs a new pet cot. I haven't had a chance to see if those are on there, but I'll check that out later.

So on to the thoughts and prayers needed.

As I mentioned in the previous paragraph, my husband is in the hospital. I posted on facebook last night and got lots of replies for my thoughts and prayers request, so I thought I'd post here, too, for those of you that don't facebook.

Saturday my husband was complaining of some pain in his abdomen. He thought he had pulled a muscle. Well, it got worst into the night and he woke me up at 6:30 a.m. to take him to the ER on Sunday. The ER doctor first thought gall bladder (note: he had his appendix removed years ago). Ultrasound showed his gall bladder looked fine, so they did a CT scan. We were thinking Ulcer, so when she came back and said he had pancreatitis, we were shocked. They admitted him and he is on morphine (did I mention that his pain was severe?) and he can't eat or drink for 3 days. Today is Day 3. No telling what caused it because he rarely drinks a beer and the other causes didn't fit his lifestyle. I'm hoping the doctor comes in today so we can get an idea of what's next, and that Tony's blood sugars are good.

Well, this is getting a bit long and I really need to get dressed and go to the hospital, so your thoughts and prayers are most welcomed!! Thank you blogger friends!!

Venturing in Novice Obedience

Ummm, received a gentle reminder from Sarah that I hadn't posted my news to my blog, yet. If you're on my facebook page, then this is old news.

Cooper and I are working (slowly) towards our CD in Novice A obedience.

We got our first leg on our first try with a 3rd place on Saturday, March 13th. However, we NQ'd on Sunday, March 14th.

The following weekend, we got our second leg and a 4th place on Saturday, March 20th. However, we NQ'd on Sunday, March 21st.

Do you see a pattern here?

We had our first Novice lesson on February 28th. We had already entered the trials thinking we'd get a couple lessons in first, but at our first class we found out that our second class wouldn't be until March 28th. We went to the trials expecting to gain ring experience and came out with 2 legs. I'm not disappointed at all.

So back to class we go, and I'm thinking we'll wait until May to try for our third leg.

For The Red Dog (aka the 3 sisters) Moms

I recall a little while back that Janet mentioned on one of the blogs (I think Sarah's)that she had not seen pictures of Scout as a puppy. I mentioned that I had some pictures and that I would post them. Well, I found them so here ya go Red Dog Mom's.

These are the red pups from the Honey/Brodie litter. I don't know who is who, except for RahRah, but I'm sure you'll recognize your little one. One should be Scout (Janet's), Grace (Dawn's), and Moira (Dina's). I know there's a male in there as well, and his name is River, but I don't know who the 5th puppy is.

Cooper Herding - First Time with Livestock

Our local Corgi Rescue was having a herding instinct fund raiser yesterday at Purina Farms. We went and Cooper got introduced to sheep and 15 minutes in the pen. He went in with Diane, and she has him on a long line. I think he had a good time.

Yesterday, I took Cooper to Purina Farms for a herding instinct fund raiser for Corgi Rescue. We got there a little early, and Cooper had time to play with some Bunny Butts.

Looks like he had fun with Teddy and Coco, and I had a good visit with their mom and dad. Turns out mom, Meliss, is a fan of Sydney and Breezy's Baby Blog. As she was telling me about following this blog and the Cardigan puppies are 3 weeks and the other litter, I said "Wait! What's the name of the blog owner?" and she said "Sarah." I said, "Oh, my gosh! She's one of my best friends, and I was there when the second litter was born!" Meliss asked me which one I was, Laura or Michelle. Small world in corgidom.

Cardi Claus Has Landed in Sullivan MO

Last week Mrs. Claus sent me an email to let me know that I should have already received my Cardi Claus ornament, but I hadn't. It was lost in the mail, which does not surprise me in this town. I'm always getting the wrong mail in my box. Well, I was a little bummed because the suspense was killing me, but lo and behold, look what I got today.

Who ever got this in their mailbox was kind enough to return it to the post office and it finally made it's way to my house. (I covered up my address for the photo.)

I inspected the back and it had not been opened, so all was well. But, what was inside? I was dying to know.

Check out the beautiful ornament.

I love it! The picture is blurry and doesn't do it justice. It's awesome, and has my brindle boy sitting on Santa Paw's lap.

Now to figure out who it was from.

I had to look at the receipt twice, but I finally saw the name.

It's from Holly and the pack at Visions.

Thank you so much Holly. I couldn't have received a better ornament.

My Grandkids, The Rockers

My work does an annual Christmas with Santa for the employees' kids and grandkids. My grandkids love the performer Babaloo. Here they are rocking out. Victoria is 6, Van is 2 and Attycus is 11 1/2 months old. When you watch this, you'll see Attycus rap his dad in the head with a drumstick. haha! Too cute!

Milk Bar and Then a Cat Nap, errr Dog Nap

It's been a busy week and I finally have time to post the pictures from last weekend. Most of you know that I went to my friend, Sarah's, last Friday to help whelp Breezy's puppies. I was afraid I wouldn't make it there in time, but Breezy gave me 10 minutes to spare, and then it was in the operating room for the C-sectioin. Our friend, Michelle, arrived in time to help out, too. I'd never witnessed a puppy birth, let alone a C-section. We did our best to help all seven pups come into the world, but three of them decided that they'd rather go right to the Rainbow Bridge. So, without further delay, here are the four girls and their momma during their first 24 hours.

Puppies: "This is some pretty good stuff."

Milk bar - Upper and lower deck.

Puppies: "All this eating makes a girl tired. I think it's time for a cat nap. Can I use you as my pillow?"

Breezy: "Uh, what's this thing getting close to my face."

Breezy: "A little more pain killers, please."

Puppies: "Think we'll curl up next to our momma."

Breezy: "I guess they aren't aliens after all.

Can't wait to see them in a couple months. By then, they won't need my help pooping and peeing. LOL.

Cooper's a baby daddy!!!

We got the news from Marla (Cooper's breeder) this evening that Ruby had four puppies today. That's all we know so far. The puppies were born in Norway, and we're patiently waiting for word from Ingrid (Ruby's owner) for more details.

Will post more info when I know something.

Cooper's wanting me to take him to The Smoke Shop, so he can buy some cigars.

We Are Still Alive and Weekend at the Lake

Thanks Penni for checking in on us. It's just been a busy summer. I was sick the first couple weeks of July with a nasty cough, and then our kennel club had it's two-day Agility Trial in mid July and our two-day Obedience/Rally Trial at the end of July. Worked both trials. Now we're gearing up for our conformation show in September.

Got back yesterday after being gone since Wednesday. Spent two days with my good friend Doreen and then two days at Mark Twain Lake with family. Doreen lives 7 miles from the campground that we stayed out, so it worked out nicely that I got to head up there a couple days earlier so I could hang out with her. And then her and her husband brought their boat out and parked next to us in a cover so we could all swim together.

Penni said she missed pictures of the grandkids so here's a couple to tie you all over. They were taken Saturday while we were swimming in the lake. The youngest grandson (7 months old) stayed with my son-in-law's aunt and uncle, so he didn't go.

I think Mori is absolutely beautiful and wish she could've stayed in the U.S. a little longer. I would've loved to see her get her American Championship.

Puppy Nails from The National

Here's me dremmeling Carly's nails the day before sweepstakes at the National. These photos were taken by Lucy Roessiger. She was set up across from us and thought this looked cute, so snapped a couple pictures for me. She just emailed them to me today.

Carly was good when it came to dremmeling nails. It helps when you start them out young. Cooper started even younger and he does good too, although he'd rather not have it done at all. :-)

We at Cooper Creek had been feeling down the last 2 weeks with Carly's leaving even to the point of almost deleting our blog. (Well, we did delete all the old posts). But we're all better now since Carly has a wonderful new home with two wonderful moms.

The little princess goes to her new home this evening. I am so excited for her and can't wait to get to know her new moms (she gets two new moms). And even better, she has her own blog now, so we can keep up with the little bugger (I mean angel).

What's Up Doc??

My sweet little boy is a killer. Well, I hope Thumper's friends stay out of the yard. Cooper doesn't allow trespassing! No wrascally wabbits allowed in his domain.

Not sure how the rabbit got in the yard, but he wasn't fast enough to get out. We were sitting in the living room with the patio door open and we heard something slam into the gate. We didn't hear the dogs make a sound, so we got up to investigate and found Cooper with the bunny rabbit. I had to put on some disposable gloves and take it away from him and throw it over the fence into the woods. Sorry Cooper, but momma won't let you play with a dead rabbit.

Computer Working, Sorta

Since my computer has absolutely no icons, I didn't think it worked, but Tony showed me away to log on using Control, Alt, Delete. I spent almost all day Saturday downloading my pictures from my computer to Shutterfly. I still need to download my videos to YouTube. That way when it really kicks the bucket I still have my pictures and video. Next, is going through my word docs and deciding what to keep and what to download to the flash drive. When I'm all done with that, Tony will let his brother work on the computer.

I spent a good part of yesterday working on my photo albums. I hope to finish that up today. It was nice to have 3 days to do some organizing.

My Computer Kicked The Bucket

Well, it's a good thing that I had decided to take a break from blogging because now my lap top has kicked the bucket. I won't be buying a new one until after the medical bills from my February surgery are paid off which will probably be the end of the year. Hubby's work cut him down to 4 days a aweek, but at least he's working. I'm so happy for that.

I still have access to the internet at work during my lunch hour, so I'll have a little bit of time to keep up with all my friends blogs.
